Chief Risk Officer

Reporting to the Risk and Audit Committee from a functional perspective and the Chief Executive Officer from an operational perspective, this role is an evolving and integral part of the leadership team responsible for delivering on the banks strategic activities.

The major responsibility of the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) is to champion a best practice Risk Management Framework. The CRO will oversee risk management activities to ensure that the risks taken by the bank are in accordance with the risk appetite statement of the Board of Directors and corresponding return expectations, and managed within defined procedures and approved exposure limits. The CRO will report periodically on the effectiveness of the risk management framework to Management and the Board. While actively engaging the Bank's risk representatives, the CRO will foster adherence to risk in accordance with the Bank's risk appetite. The role will also include managing, updating and implementing the Bank's risk management framework including communication of the Board's risk appetite, in compliance with its legal, regulatory and contractual obligations.

The CRO will contribute to the strategic direction of the Bank through the development and implementation of Risk Management strategies, policies and procedures in support of the Banks strategic objectives.

The CRO will act as Money Laundering Reporting Officer (s12 & s13 Financial Transactions Report Act 2017) and Compliance Officer (s17 Financial Supervisory Commission Act 2003).

Expressions Of Interest (EOI) - Service Providers Required

Bank of the Cook Islands is a licenced SWIFT user and obligated to ensure ongoing compliance with SWIFT security requirements. BCI is seeking interested service providers to undertake an assessment (not audit) of BCI’s compliance with the SWIFT Customer Security Controls Framework (CSCF).

The CSCF was created by SWIFT to promote cyber security within the SWIFT user community and to drive industry-wide collaboration in that battle against the cyber threat.
